Eurythmy Therapy
Katherine Beaven MA
This form of movement therapy stimulates the body’s life-forces through specific focused exercises. It supports the individual to become active in addressing their own imbalances and by working with the mind-body-spirit relationship a dynamic equilibrium can be re-established.
Eurythmy therapy is used in a broad spectrum of illnesses, including the regulation of metabolic and nerve-sense processes and the harmonization of cardiovascular and respiratory activity. Muskuloskeletal disorders and organ functions can also be addressed specifically. In addition, it can help people with mental health concerns including anxiety and depression. The exercises improve body awareness, coordination and dexterity leading to relaxation and a sense of revitalisation.

Individual & Group sessions:
Eurythmy Therapy can be used for all age groups and most cases of constitutional, chronic, or acute illness. Examples of where eurythmy therapy may be of benefit include nervous diseases (acute and degenerative), metabolic, heart, and circulatory diseases; musculoskeletal disorders psychiatric and psychosomatic conditions; also for assistance with issues of child development, eye conditions, and teeth displacement.
A eurythmy therapist will often work together with a doctor to develop a treatment plan. According to the diagnosis and the specific needs of the patient a series of exercises are introduced over a period of 7 to 10 weeks/sessions. Between sessions, regular practice at home is strongly recommended. The individual’s inner engagement with the suggested movement exercises is crucial. Therefore close attention is given to creating a sense of safety and honouring the person’s autonomy. This approach is often experienced as self-empowering by both children and adults.
Current Courses on Offer:
If you are seeking inner balance, relaxation and stronger vitality or if you are feeling nervous, stressed, tense, unable to focus, lacking motivation or having sleep problems then this class is for you.
The daily demands of our life and our personal worries put us frequently under enormous pressure and challenge us to find new ways to stay inwardly balanced and strong. Eurythmy can help us to do this.
This class is also for those who suffer from anxiety and high blood pressure.
In this class participants will learn specific exercises which strengthen the resilience of the bodies life forces so that the organism can assert its integrity against foreign influences. The whole person is addressed so that also on a soul-spiritual level boundaries are strengthened.
The exercises can deepen the breathing, stimulate the circulation and have a warming effect on the body as a whole. “These exercises strengthen and protect in the most exact way precisely those rhythmic functions which are mainly burdened by the new epidemic illness, and therefore represent the most effective and specific prophylaxis one can think of.” Dr Wilburg Keller Roth
Those who suffer from arthritis know that movement is recommended when the joints become stiff. The eurythmy exercises are gentle and need not cause additional pain, they have a warming and loosening effect enabling an increase in one's range of movement. This course is also oriented towards those who can't stand as the exercises can all be done in sitting.
What is Eurythmy Therapy?
Eurythmy therapy uses the medium of the sounds of speech and the tones of music as they manifest in movement. Each sound of speech has a corresponding form in movement, which is created by the upright human being, principally by means of their arms. The consonants manifest as mobile sculptural forms, vowels as geometric forms. In the same way, elements from music eurythmy (gestures for the notes of music and the intervals between them) can be reshaped into musical eurythmy therapy exercises.
What People Are Saying
“ The first time I saw Katherine teaching, she reminded me of an angel. The softness in her movements and voice guides us to go into a deep inner space, where we can transform and transcend blockages that might be holding us back in our development.
All "exercises" are very easy to do, suitable for any age and almost any physical condition. After having done the practice, one feels very peaceful and calm, and, at the same time, energized in a positive way.
I highly recommend Katherine's classes!”
